The tour, International Cultural Experience (ICE) Tour, in Singapore I joined was a fabulous itinerary to experience Singapore’s culture and landmarks. We started off with an “Amazing Race” with University of Berkeley (UB) and Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) students. I was really excited for each mission and it was a valuable chance to build up an effective communication and team spirit. The next schedule was a cultural experiential tour with UB students to Universal Studios, Sentosa, Singapore River Safari and Night Safari. The River safari Singapore was more than just a trip down the river in a boat. More than 5,000 aquatic and land animals live there, and they are from world’s most iconic river habitats. Overall, this tour is certainly a fruitful experience from which I have built up my self-confidence and social skills for whole-person development.

The most enjoyable activity in the trip was ‘Amazing Race Singapore’ for me. ‘Amazing Race Singapore’ was a game that students went to different places and finished different missions. While I played ‘Amazing Race Singapore’ with the state University of New York at Buffalo’s (UB) students and Singapore Institute of Management’s (SIM) students, I visited a number of attractions including Haji Lane, Malay Heritage Centre, Mustafa Centre, Chinatown and East Coast Park. The first mission at Haji Lane was to find five special styles of buildings and take the photos. The task at Malay Heritage Centre was to play jianzi whereas that at Mustafa Centre was to find four special products in Singapore such as rose water. The mission at Chinatown was to finish a bingo game, and the final task at East Coast Park was to answer thirty questions related to Singapore history. This activity design was impeccable as I learnt a lot about Singaporean history, specialties and costumes through games with international students.

I love this trip very much and it was an enjoyable trip for me and my new friends. First, company visits to Kele Bakery and The Newater let me understand more about the operations of the local and international business in Singapore. Apart from the company visits, we had “Amazing Race” with University of Berkeley (UB) and Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) students, and finished assigned tasks in famous Singapore landmarks such as The Haji Lane, Mustafa Centre and The East Coast Park. Having chances to communicate with the foreign students was a great experience for me. Not only did I enhance my effective communication skills for interaction with high level executives, but I also learnt to co-operate with new Singaporean and American friends in different cultures
