The trip to Tokyo has been a precious experience for me. I have been to various places where I have gained a lot of practical knowledge.
My groupmates and I visited NHK, Japan Broadcasting Corporation, and learned how to be a voice actress by trying voice dubbing. It’s fascinating to listen to yourself act with your voice.
Next, we went to the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) building. We visited the museum where Japan’s economic history in all war eras is exhibited and tried the free stock market game. Through the visit, I have learned more about the operation of TSE and investment.
We also visited the over 100-year-old Ishikawa Brewery to learn about the production of sake and tried some freshly brewed beer.
Besides these onsite visits, we also visited many attractions - Odaiba (hot spring), Sensoji Temple, Nakamise Shopping Street, Shin-Nakamise Shopping Street, etc. - where we interacted with the local people. They are generally caring, genuine, and helpful.

This international cultural experience trip was the most wonderful first trip. The most enjoyable part in the tour was making friends with the state University of New York at Buffalo’s (UB) students and Japanese students. I have learnt more about the culture in Japan. For instance, Japanese would not like to eat the last piece of food in the dish when dinning. We visited three different companies, NHK Studio Park, Tokyo Stock Exchange and Ishikawa Sake Brewery. I learnt the process of producing TV programs in NHK Studio Park and spotted a number of differences between Tokyo Stock Exchange and Hong Kong Stock Exchange. In Ishikawa Sake Brewery, I gain more understandings about the process of brewing sake. The tour guide even taught us how to taste sake. It was indeed an unforgettable experience in my first trip! Thank you CPCE for giving me an opportunity to learn to be independent.

Participating in this study tour has helped me gain a lot of different worldviews and exposure.
In this tour, we visited the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE), NHK Studio Park, and Ishikawa Brewery. In TSE, I learned about their history and operation – TSE is one of the world’s largest stock exchange. From my observation, it seems to play a crucial role in controlling Japan’s cash flow and financial activities. I was also impressed by the trading method – transactions are handled by artificial intelligence.
IN NHK, we were shown how TV shows and anime are produced, including casting and dubbing. Last, we went to Ishikawa Brewery to learn about the production of sake, which requires numerous steps and takes about 2 months.
Although with the language barrier, communicating with both local and international students, I have gained many different perspectives on studying and living in a foreign country. It’s helpful for me to learn about what it takes to be independent through others’ stories.
