To enhance students’ self-understanding and help them explore possible career paths, the Further Studies and Career Centre (FSCC) provides students with various career assessment tools and collaborates with external parties to organise different kinds of activities ranging from self-discovery to entrepreneur training programmes.

Career Explorer Series

The programme content includes self-understanding, career planning, communication, debriefing and interview skills training, and service learning. It aims at widening students' horizons and equipping them with organisation and collaboration skills. As a result, students will be able to transfer the skills to the workplace setting and adapt themselves to work better in future.

Career Assessment

How well do you know yourself? Various career assessment tools are available at FSCCs to help students learn more about themselves, including their career interest, work values and career options. Interested students please ask our Career Development Officers for details.

Personality assessment workshops, for example, MBTI® for Better Career Planning, will also be organised regularly in each semester. For details of the workshops, please refer to the upcoming promotional posters and emails.

Personality assessment workshops

Career / Recruitment Talks

Professionals from a wide range of industries will be invited to share their experience and expertise. Through these talks, students can learn about recent market trends.

Executive Leadership Programme (ELP)

Executive Leadership Programme (ELP) prepares students to take the helm - to lead confidently and articulate strategically. In an executive role, it is crucial that students have the right blend of soft skills and a strategic mindset to achieve a specific performance outcome. It is the leader's job to communicate strategically, negotiate skilfully, influence team behaviour and deliver results.

The intensive ELP encompasses a series of workshops and ends with a grand dinner with senior executives to equip potential leaders with essential assets, including skills on career planning, presentation, relationship management, grooming and interviewing, office and table manners, etc.

Mentorship Programme

Mentorship Programme was officially launched in 2003. It offers students a chance to reach beyond the classroom and learn from their mentors who are senior executives or experts from diverse fields. The purpose of this programme is to facilitate the holistic development on the educational, social and personal growth of the mentees. Experienced working professionals will be assigned as students' mentors. A series of activities, such as welcoming ceremony, mentee training workshops, company visits, guest talks, outings and appreciation dinner will be organised for students and their mentors during the academic year. Through formal and informal interactions with mentors, students' horizons will be broadened and a more mature prospect for their future career, family and social life can be developed.

Our mentors involve managers, senior executives and/or experts from different industries with five or more years of work experience. Their positions range from CEOs, vice presidents, directors, HR managers, sales managers, hotel executives, IT managers, PR managers, government officials, accountants, surveyors, engineers, social workers, financial analysts to university professors, etc.

Programme-specific Career Development Series

FSCC cooperates with SPEED to conduct CV Writing Workshops for students of full-time programmes leading to PolyU-SPEED Awards. In the future, the collaboration between HKCC and SPEED will be enforced. Both CV Writing Workshop and Career Assessment Workshop will be organised.
